Skoda Auto India has finally commenced the deliveries of its sub-compact SUV, the Kylaq. Besides that, Skoda has also reopened the bookings for the base-spec Classic trim from today. The carmaker has positioned this model in the highly competitive sub-four-metre SUV segment, where it will lock horns against the likes of Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet and more. As for the pricing, the SUV is available in four trims with prices starting from Rs 7.89 lakh, ex-showroom.

Skoda Kylaq: Pricing and fuel efficiency

Under Skoda’s 2.0 strategy on our shores, the Kylaq joins the Kushaq and Slavia as the brand’s third offering in the passenger vehicle segment. It comes in four variants: Classic, Signature, Signature Plus, and Prestige. The price range extends from Rs 7.89 lakh for the entry-level Classic trim to Rs 14.4 lakh, ex-showroom, for the top-end Prestige AT variant. The SUV delivers an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 19.68 kmpl with the manual transmission and 19.05 kmpl with the automatic.

Skoda Kylaq: Engine

Powering the Kylaq is a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine that generates 115 hp and 178 Nm of torque. As for transmission options, it offers a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

Skoda Kylaq: Features

The Kylaq is built on Skoda’s MQB-A0-IN platform and comes packed with features. It includes an 8.0-inch fully digital driver display, a 10.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car technology, and a six-speaker Canton sound system. Other highlights include powered front seats, ventilated seats, ambient lighting, a single-pane sunroof, and semi-leatherette upholstery.
On the safety front, the Kylaq boasts an impressive feature list, including six airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and a reverse parking camera with sensors. It has also secured a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP, scoring 30.88 out of 32 points for adult occupant protection and 45 out of 49 points for child occupant safety.
