2025 Kia EV6 vs Hyundai Ioniq 5: Battery, range, price and specs compared

Kia India recently launched the updated 2025 Kia EV6 EV in the Indian market. The EV was first revealed in India at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo and globally last year i.e., May 2024. The new model features a bigger battery pack with more range, a new design with a fresh look, additional features and an updated dashboard layout. In this article, let’s compare the EV6 with its cousin, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 in terms of price, variants, range, battery, features and specs.

Comparing the price and variants first, the new EV6 is offered in a single fully loaded AWD GT-Line variant and is priced at Rs 65.9 lakh (ex-showroom). Interested customers can book the new EV6 online or by visiting their nearest dealer, deliveries are expected to begin soon. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 on the other hand too is offered in a single RWD variant priced at Rs 46 lakh (ex-showroom). The EV6 is Rs 19.9 lakh more expensive than the Ioniq 5.

Comparing dimensions next, the EV6 measures 4695 mm in length, 1890 mm in width, 1570 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2900 mm. The Ioniq 5 measures 4635 mm in length, 1890 mm in width, 1625 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 3000 mm. The EV6 is longer at 4,695 mm, while the Ioniq 5 is shorter at 4,635 mm (difference of 60 mm).

Both have the same width of 1,890 mm, ensuring similar cabin space in terms of shoulder room. The Ioniq 5 is taller at 1,625 mm, compared to the EV6’s 1,570 mm, which could translate into better headroom. The Ioniq 5 has a longer wheelbase at 3,000 mm compared to the EV6’s 2,900 mm, which may offer better legroom and interior space.

The new EV6 is powered by a comes with an 84 kWh battery paired with dual electric motors which puts out 325 hp of power and 605 nm torque. It has a claimed range of 581 km in one full charge and can sprint from 0-100 kph in 5.3 seconds. With a 350 kW DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 0 to 80% in just 18 minutes.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 gets a 72.6 kWh battery pack paired with a single electric motor which puts out 217hp of power and 350Nm of torque. It has an ARAI-certified range of 631km on a single charge. The Ioniq 5 is available only in rear-wheel-drive configuration whereas the EV6 gets AWD with dual motors. The battery can be charged from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in just 18 minutes.

Features-wise, the EV6 gets a large curved panoramic display that combines the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system. The steering wheel has been upgraded with a fingerprint scanner, enabling registered users to drive the car without a key. Additional features include over-the-air (OTA) updates, AI-powered navigation, a digital rearview mirror, wireless charging, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car technology, Level 2 ADAS, remote park assist, and more advanced functionalities.

The Ioniq 5 features twin 12.3-inch screens for the instrument cluster and the infotainment system, a heads-up display with augmented reality functions and ADAS tech. The EV also gets a vehicle-to-load function with an output of 3.6kW and Hyundai says it can power up electrical appliances like laptops and mobiles.
